Girls Hope is using sports as an empowerment strategy to involve girls so as to avoid high risky sexual behavior. Figures of adolescence pregnancies in Uganda have indicated an upward shift and this represents a high risk of contraction of HIV/AIDS. Girls hope engages girls in sports with a view of improving their self-esteem, offering them leadership skills to empower them actively participate in making decisions.
Monitoring progress at a recent activity.

Girls Hope is employing sports as a platform for uplifiting of the conditions of girls in society.
Girls in developing nations like Uganda are at a higher risk of sexual
violence, family pressure to marry early, and gender norms which emphasize submission and
obedience to men leaving girls vulnerable to early, unwanted and unsafe sexual activity.

In societies that discourage discussion of sexual matters with girls, lack of information
on sexuality, reproductive health and HIV and AIDS increases these risks. Girls Hope comes in as a remedy to these social problems.
